The Drug & Alcohol Task Force is a non-profit organization, incorporated in 1985 through the State of Connecticut's Office of the Secretary of the State.

The Task Force is comprised of eighteen members including representatives from school system, police dept. community agencies, students and community residents. We are funded through the Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, private donations and fund raisers.

We meet the third Thursday of each month, 2nd floor Human Resource conference room located at City Hall.  Meetings are held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, the public is welcome to attend any of our meetings.

Our primary goal is awareness and education.  The following is a list of the programs we have undertaken:

• Purchase books for the Library
• Battle of the Bands - Youth Program (featuring live rock & roll music by community youth and displays on substance use/abuse

• Sponsored cost of conference on substance abuse for school nurses
• Pocket calendars with drug/alcohol information for students
• Drug information kits for elementary school, Notre Dame High School, Police Dept., area agency on aging and WHHS
